Excellent response. My partner and children do all they can to help me AVOID episodes. I have suffered more injuries than I care to remember and recovering from an episode gets harder as I get older.
Becca, there’s hope for you yet. You are a beautiful young girl, there’s still time for you to meet a grown up. Someone that takes good care of you during and after an episode of cataplexy or at least cares that you’re having one. My children were aged 7 & 9 when they had to be taught how to clear my airway - by the time your husband has finished humiliating you for kicks and giggling with his friends it’ll be too late. “I’m used to the abuse” - haunting words. Having narcolepsy, I would have to say she isn’t passing out. She is suffering from cataplexy attacks. She is very awake, just can;t move. I have these attacks all the time, its like being trapped in your own body, but can’t control anything. I think what he does to her is messed up. He should get educated on her disorder.
As a clinical psychologist and professor, all I can say is that “Becca” and her husband are sad examples of what’s wrong with society today. Her lack of self-worth causes her to distort her experiences with her husband because otherwise she would have to acknowledge what a loser she married; of course, that would mean acknowledging how much of a loser she is as well. One of my students posted the original video in response to similar videos I posted re. lack of empathy, not narcolepsy.

Rebecca, assuming you are still married to this guy, you should take him to a Narcolepsy Network Conference so he (and you) can get a better understanding of your cataplexy (that’s they symptom of Narcolepsy that is causing you to pass out). As for your husband, though he was sweet to kiss you awake, it was quite insensitive him to publicly humiliate you and your condition. He is walking on thin ice in my book.

If it is not funny to her, then he should stop. There are many more issues a person with narcolepsy has to deal with and it is a serious medical condition. Her passing out could occur in front of a train, walking on a sidewalk or anywhere and it could cause her death. You pricks who think it is funny, I would be happy to meet you so you can see how it feels to lose consciousness.
