Spirited Away - Narcolepsy (AMV)

This is a video I’ve been wanting to do for a long time… I’ve always associated this song with Spirited Away (probably mostly due to the fact that when I first heard it, I had just seen the movie, but it still fits). Unfortunately, all I have is Windows Movie Maker and I’m not all that talented with it, but I think this turned out pretty good. ehhh.. OtakuD50 and HQrip- i don’t think mixing cultures is a bad thing at all.. it doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate Asian music, it just means that this song happened to fit well with an anime that just happened to be Japanese. So what if the song’s American? Yeesh.
Anyway, loved the vid Hermionebubble. Spirited Away is my personal favorite of Miyaazaki’s animes. All the characters are so… REAL. XD
This is the only AMV I have ever made… if you look at the rest of my account it’s pretty clear that they’re not really the kind of thing I do. So, once again, that’s a big assumption to make. I do understand that there are a lot of AMVs with American music and I guess it’s kind of weird but I think a lot of anime fans (especially those who make AMVs) are the type who watch dubs and don’t really immerse themselves into the culture, so…
Well, I only come to that conclusion based on what I see in this particular video. Perhaps if you’d made more AMVs with Jpop/rock songs in it, I’d be more inclined to think otherwise. BTW I’m not saying Third Eye Blind is bad, in fact I have a few of their albums. I’m saying there are far too many anime fan videos of the kind you showed.
You said you didn’t know who in their right mind would mix the two, and that I used too much literal meaning in the video for your tastes. Which is all well and good, you can have your opinions, I just had a counter-statement, that is all.
I never said I didn’t like Japanese music - in fact, I’m a huge Jpop fan. You’re assuming a lot. I just thought the lyrics in the song matched well with the story.

I like 3eb and Spirited Away, but mixing the two was unexpected to say the least.
Well the fans gotta do what the fans gotta do. I do agree with you right there. Mixing English songs with Japanese anime is just a slap to the face. It’s saying to the Asians that their music isn’t good enough, that they have to mix in the “proper” music.
Someone who first heard the album right after seeing the movie…? I’ve always attached the two in my mind because of the timing, but even without that I think this song can fit the movie fairly well in several ways.
I know a lot of the literal meaning is cheesy, but it was my first AMV and I made it like… I think three years ago? Give me a break, please. If I re-did it now it would probably be a lot better. I’m still somewhat proud of my work, however.
